What are Quoting and Trading Sessions?
Quoting session — the period when the broker receives and displays prices (quotes) for an instrument. During this time, you can see the price changing, but you cannot open or close trades.
Trading session — the period when you can not only see the prices, but also execute operations: open, close, and modify positions.
In simple terms: during the quoting session, prices may update, but trading is unavailable. You can only trade during the trading session.
Each trading instrument has its own specific hours during which quotes and trading are available. Most instruments (Forex, stocks, metals, indices, energy) are traded 5 days a week, Monday to Friday.
Cryptocurrency instruments are available 24/7 — with no breaks in quoting or trading sessions.
Please note that quoting and trading session times may differ.
For example, for the instrument XTIUSD:
Quoting session: 01:00 – 24:00
Trading session: 01:05 – 23:55
*Trading and quoting session times may change depending on the switch to daylight saving or standard time.
You can check the exact quoting and trading session times for each instrument in the trading terminal under the Specification section.
